Table of Contents

Here at Fence Installers we have a simple approach to Pricing. Shown below are guide prices which you can use to calculate our labour costs. If you are happy with our installation guide prices we will come to see you and confirm what is to be done and the price we will charge.

In the majority of cases the guide price will be used but on occasion we may need to allow for circumstances such as poor access, steep slopes or poor ground due to large roots or concrete.

We may also be able to offer a discount for larger jobs where there is good access and clean ground.

Fence Installation Prices

Our fence installation prices are calculated per panel and depend on how many fence panels are to be installed.

Of course, it’s inefficient to install just a single panel, so the more you require, the lower the price per panel. These are our installation prices.

  • 1 panel = £96
  • 2 to 4 panels = £55 per panel
  • 5 or 6 panels = £45 per panel
  • 7+ = £40 per panel

Commercial quotes are available on request.

Fence Panels

Which type of fence panel is best for you? How high do you want your fence to be, and how much will the panels themselves cost?

Which Type of Fence Panel Should You Choose?

Should you choose Closeboard Fence Panels or Lap Fence Panels?

Closeboard Panels have vertical slats and Lap Panels have horizontal slats.

Around 80% of our customers choose Closeboard Panels, and so we have set this option as the default option on this Price Calculator.

Of course, it’s entirely up to you which fence panel type you prefer.

How High Do You Want Your Fence to Be?

Once you have decided how high you want your fence to be, you can then choose a combination of fence panel and gravel board that adds up to that height.

What are Gravel Boards?

Gravel Boards are 6 inch or 12 inch protective boards which sit underneath the fence panels to prevent the wooden fence panel itself from having to be in contact with the soil.

In effect, Gravel Boards increase the fence’s ability to last.

Fence Panel and Gravel Board Height Combinations

As fence panels come in heights of 3 foot, 4 foot, 5 foot, 5 foot 6 inches and 6 foot, your desired fence height may inform the height of the Gravel Board you choose to go with it.

For example, if you want a 5 foot fence, that can only be achieved with a combination of a 4 foot fence panel and a 12 inch Gravel Board.

If you wish us to cut a hole in a Gravel Board (which we’ll do for free if you let us know) so that hedgehogs can move between gardens, you’ll need to choose 12 inch Gravel Boards because a 6 inch Gravel Board is not high enough for this.

The fence panel and gravel board combinations which are available make up the drop list selector in our Price Calculator above, and you can see them here in more detail:

  • 3ft (91cm) Fence Panels + 6 inch (150mm) Gravel Boards = total height 3ft 6in (6ft posts)
  • 3ft (91cm) Fence Panels + 12 inch (300mm) Gravel Boards = total height 4ft (6ft posts)
  • 4ft (122cm) Fence Panels + 6 inch (150mm) Gravel Boards = total height 4ft 6in (7ft posts)
  • 4ft (122cm) Fence Panels + 12 inch (300mm) Gravel Boards = total height 5ft (7ft posts)
  • 5ft (152cm) Fence Panels + 6 inch (150mm) Gravel Boards = total height 5ft 6in (8ft posts)
  • 5ft (152cm) Fence Panels + 12 inch (300mm) Gravel Boards = total height 6ft (8ft posts)
  • 5ft 6in (168cm) Fence Panels + 6 inch (150mm) Gravel Boards = total height 6ft (8ft posts)
  • 5ft 6in (168cm) Fence Panels + 12 inch (300mm) Gravel Boards = total height 6ft 6in (9ft posts)
  • 6ft (183cm) Fence Panels + 6 inch (150mm) Gravel Boards = total height 6ft 6in (9ft posts)
  • 6ft (183cm) Fence Panels + 12 inch (300mm) Gravel Boards = total height 7ft (9ft posts)

Concrete Gravel Boards

Recessed Concrete Gravel Boards are used to keep the panels off the ground, which helps them avoid rotting.

These gravel boards are reinforced with steel for extra strength.

Tip: The larger 12in gravel boards are used for steep slopes where the gradient is more than 6in in a 6ft stretch.

If you have less than this gradient then it is simply a matter of preference between the 2 sizes.
